We, the people of The Sovereign Nation of Shetland, assert our right to see proof of authority by organisations operating in Shetland. We think it is reasonable that they should be required to prove their authority. If somebody demands money, or knocks on our door saying they have a right of access, we have a right to know by what authority they make such a demand. The same applies in all areas of our lives.
What we are asking for should be at the fingertips of any organisation purporting to have business in Shetland.
We do not believe any such proof exists (see Stuart Hill's book Stolen Isles) and we anticipate that those in power will do whatever they can to conceal the lie. Our people have been shouted at and abused in the courts, been placed in police cells and imprisoned when trying to get answers, but the more extreme the abuse, the more the perpetrators expose the lie.
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it" Attributed to Joseph Goebbels by some. He is alleged to have continued: "The lie can only be maintained for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie. and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State" – just what the UK and Scotland have been doing to Shetland for centuries. Maybe he was taking a leaf out of their book.
Shetland has been living a lie for so long that nearly everyone believes it. Shetlanders have been intimidated to the point where they dare not confront authority. It used to be the case that if you had an argument with the laird or the minister, you could be thrown out of your croft. Nothing much has changed.
Everything is fine as long as you don't ask questions, but unless they can show the proof, there is a massive scam being perpetrated under our noses.
We, the people of The Sovereign Nation of Shetland reserve the right to turn our backs on any organisation unable to show proof of its authority here, but at the same time, to hold those authorities to account. We are currently a minority of the Shetland population. If others prefer to continue living the lie by giving their consent for these organisations to continue operating in Shetland, that is their choice, but we will not aid and abet the fraud.
In January 2025, we started making Freedom of Information Requests (FOIs), using a site called WhatDoTheyKnow.com, which projects itself as a campaigning site for people to ask questions of public authorities. However, it seems it will only accept requests that are not too dangerous to the 'Establishment'. Our first requests were directed to the UK and Scottish governments. They both responded just before the 20 day time limit ran out, but when we went to the site to respond, we found that we had been banned (screenshot) without any warning or explanation. You can see the requests we had made up to that point here.
It prompted us to set up this site as an alternative. We have copied the information from WhatDoTheyKnow.com and now have direct control. This site now serves as a public record.
Our main focus is to ask the UK and Scottish governments and any public organisation working under their authority to show proof that they have the authority to operate in Shetland. Clearly, if Shetland is not part of Scotland, UK and Scottish legislation does not apply here.
If the information exists, any one of these authorities should be able to easily produce it. If they cannot, they have no authority in Shetland. The more obstructive they are, the more they reveal the scam.
This is the reality:
- By The Laws of Scotland, sovereignty is the same as allodial ownership, they are identical concepts.*
- The Crown does not have allodial ownership of Shetland.
- Therefore the Crown does not have sovereignty over Shetland.
It's as simple as that. Without sovereignty, Charles III is not our king, no UK or Scottish legislation can apply here and Shetland can make its own decisions without having to ask anyone. No big corporation can steamroller projects though on the basis that we are part of Scotland. Any existing projects we don't like can be removed. We can take back full control of our seas and seabed.
Before you start to protest, asking "What would we do without a 'proper government?'" and such questions, remember, this is not a mess of our making. The simple reality is that Shetland is living under a foreign occupying power. Would you rather be subject to remote politicians who have proved themselves to be not working in our interest, or would you prefer to have control here? If you wish to continue living the lie, then carry on giving your consent and feeding the beast. We, the People of The Sovereign Nation of Shetland will not bend. We will not appease them.
We, the people of The Sovereign Nation of Shetland, reserve the right to opt out of this corrupt system and live in truth.
Any outside organisation operating in Shetland must be able to provide the information we request in our FOIs:
- Proof that the Crown owns Shetland (otherwise Charles III is not our king)
- Proof that Shetland is part of Scotland (otherwise UK and Scottish legislation does not apply here)
- Proof of their authority to operate in Shetland
- Proof that they have any business in Shetland
- Proof that any business they have already carried out in Shetland is valid
None of those on the FOI List can answer the first two.
We have other questions for particular circumstances.
It is important to note that each of our requests is a separate request and each is dependent on the one before. They are not repeat requests on the same subject.
- If they cannot show proof that the Crown owns Shetland, they cannot show proof that Shetland is part of Scotland.
- If they cannot show proof that Shetland is part of Scotland, they cannot show proof of their authority to operate here and so on.
As a result of our FOIs, the reality is that:
- The UK government does not hold the information necessary for the Crown to have sovereignty in Shetland; and
- The Scottish government does not hold the information necessary for the Crown to have sovereignty in Shetland; and
- Neither holds the information necessary for Charles III to be our king; and
- Ofgem does not hold the information necessary for it to give approval for any energy projects in Shetland; and
- Crown Estates Scotland does not hold the information necessary to prove the Crown's ownership of the seas and seabed around Shetland; and
- The DVLA does not hold the information necessary for it to operate in Shetland; and
- The Electoral Commission does not hold the information necessary for any elections to be valid in Shetland; and
- HMRC does not hold the information necessary for it to impose any taxes in Shetland; and
- The Scottish Police authrity does not hold the information necessary for it to operate in Shetland; and
- The Shetland Islands Council does not hold the information necessary for it to operate in Shetland; and
We send our requests by email, using a tracking service that tells us exactly when the email is opened and on which computer. If a request is not opened, a follow-up is sent by Royal Mail Signed For service.
If they say say they don't hold the information, they must be prepared to answer the next request. It is incumbent upon each organisation to be able to show its own authority.
A number of authorities have initially refused to grant our FOI request because the legislation requires a real name. They have interpreted that to mean the real name of a man or woman, but that is not what the legislation requires. The Sovereign Nation of Shetland is the real name of the organisation making the request. See here for explanation of the legislation and guidance, which all FOI officers should be familiar with.
We have found the SIC and Ofgem to be particularly obstructive, the SIC and others going so far as to refuse our request in defiance of the legislation and guidelines. They seem to think themselves above the law, but do not seem to realise that all their clever manoeuvring exposes the fact that they cannot answer what should be a simple question.
What we are asking for is information that should be readily available to any organisation purporting to have business in Shetland. Without it, there can be no doubt that a scam so huge as to be almost unbelievable is happening before our very eyes. We do not believe that any of the organisations challenged can produce the information.
If you have read this far, you are now aware of the truth. If you live in Shetland and continue appeasing our foreign occupying powers (paying taxes, buying licences to do things you have a right to do and so on), you are knowingly aiding and abetting a fraud. They will continue with their threats, abuse, dirty tricks and false promises until we stand in sufficient numbers. Until then, one by one we will opt out, turn our backs and stop feeding the beast.
